Putting up a driver is optional (can be operated without driver) in this vehicle is the great advantage and innovation in this autonomous tractor. This is the electric tractor which is specially built to revolutionise the agricultural sector. It is a sustainable and partially autonomous vehicle solution. It is developed by the namesake California-based company Monarch. It is powered by a powerful 55kW peak-rated motor.

Praveen Penmetsa, co-founder and CEO, Monarch Tractor said that “What makes Monarch Tractor unique is that you are answering the three big challenges farmers have,”

“Farmers have labour shortages around the globe. Farmers are under tremendous pressure from their buyers to reduce emissions and provide more sustainability data (to their buyers). Farmers are also working with razor-thin margins.”

Specifications

The company claims that Monarch’s electric tractor has no tailpipe emissions as it has an electric powertrain. While we look for its technical specifications, the electric tractor is capable of providing 40HP (30KW) of continuous power and short duration peak power up to 70HP (55KW).

Its peak power is 70 horsepower and its lift capacity is 2200 LB and gives 540 RPM. It has 4 wheel drive and comes with a 10 year of battery warranty.

Features

Its key features include, the ICE or the traditional tractors would produce 14 times emissions but the Monarch Tractor is 100% electric. It works as a 3-in-1 electrification tool which operates as tractor and extra storage as an ATV too and is also capable to run as a powerful generator in the field. It can also work on pre-programmed tasks without the driver. It can also be used with the interactive automation features including Gesture and Shadow modes.

As it is autonomous, you must have got the thought of its safety, it is autonomous but how much it is safe? Let me clear your doubt, the Monarch Tractor is packed with some wonderful safety features that include the roll and collision prevention, vision-based Power Take-Off (PTO) safety and 360° cameras to make the employees safe and secure.

It collects and analyses more than 240GB of crop data every day it operates in the field. Not only this it can be a sprayer, cultivator and can also be a drone for recharging other units. It can be operated for 10 long hours of time and under high workloads, the battery can be operated for 4-5 hours. It has battery swappable options from which you can recharge your battery in just 10 minutes.

Smart options

It has some smart options that can be used for smartphone or personal device, the users get all the information related to the tractor’s alert updates such as current micro-weather conditions, data collection, analysis, detailed operations reports and storage for efficient farm planning.

Price

The base price of the Monarch autonomous electric tractor is $50,000 (around 40 lakh rupees). The swappable battery pack is $15,000. It is assembled in Livemore, California. The shippings of the compact unit will begin in fall of 2021.
