The joint venture is focused on CASE (Connected-Autonomous-Shared-Electric) mobility through enabling supporting research for the deployment of electric and autonomous vehicles in urban India. The company has already introduced India’s first internet electric SUV, MG ZS EV now wants to use the research for developing its future autonomous vehicles.

This research will inclusively include some of the key aspects of an EV such as Route Planning and Navigation, Obstacle Detection, Seamless and Natural Human Interaction, and AI for Inferring and Decision-making. The company has also donated its ZS EV vehicle to IIT Delhi.

Rajeev Chaba, President & MD, MG Motor India, said, “At MG, our focus has always been around bringing ground-breaking innovations in the automotive space. We are extremely honoured to partner with IIT-Delhi, a force to reckon with in the global technology space. We are confident this initiative will bring significant value to IIT Delhi students in researching autonomous technology in city conditions.”

Last year, Tata Power and MG Motor India partnered to install 50 kW DC superfast chargers. Both the companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Tata Power will deploy 50kW DC superfast chargers at selected dealerships of MG Motors all over India which will cater for the end-to-end electric vehicle charging solutions.

MG Motors India has also partnered with Umicore, a lithium battery recycling solutions provider for effective life cycle management of the lithium-ion batteries to be used in the e-ZS electric vehicle.
