MG Motor & Tata Power collaborated to set up EV charging stations

MG Motor and Tata Power collaborated to set up 50kW and 60kW DC fast EV charging stations across the country. The MG Motor-Tata Power partnership has now set up a 50kW superfast charging station in Chennai.

Till now it has installed 22 superfast charging stations in 17 cities of India which plans to offer a 5-way charging option to customers. The other 4 options including AC fast charger, an extended charging network, a plug-and-charge cable, and a charge-on-the-go with RSA.

The charging stations can charge electric vehicles like the MG ZS EV up to 80 per cent in 50 minutes. It is compatible with all the CCS fast-charging standard.

Tata Power New Business Services-Chief Rajesh Naik said, “We are thrilled to continue our strengthened association with MG Motor India by deploying the Chennai charging station. We will continue to provide a seamless charging experience to our customers.”

“We wish to build a decent ecosystem for our potential electric vehicle customers in the future thereby, promoting the adoption of such green mobility solutions,” Naik said.

MG Motor India has a total of 10 SuperFast 50 kW charging stations across its dealerships in five cities-New Delhi- NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad with similar expansions to more cities.

MG Motor India has officially launched its first electric SUV and said to be an internet electric SUV. MG ZS EV is powered by a synchronous motor that gives 141 bhp and produces 353 Nm of peak torque. It is equipped with a 44.5 kWh battery pack which provides a range of 300 km on a single charge. It accelerates 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and it gives a top speed of 140 km/h.

Its lithium-ion battery can be charged up to 80 percent in 40 minutes with the help of a 50 kW DC charger. It takes seven hours to charge it with a standard 7 kW charger. It is IP67 certified which means it is water and dustproof.

The internet electric SUV is coming with a price tag for pre-booked customers, for its excite version price is Rs 19,88,000 and for its Exclusive version, its pricing in Rs 22,58,000.
