Maruti Suzuki Fuels EV Workforce with ₹3.9 Crore Training Investment
In a significant step towards strengthening India’s electric mobility ecosystem, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has rolled out a high-voltage electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid maintenance training program across 130 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the country. The initiative comes with a focused investment of ₹3.9 crore, aimed at creating a skilled workforce for the rapidly evolving EV landscape.
Bridging the Skill Gap
The program is designed to train over 4,100 students annually in the essential areas of EV and hybrid vehicle maintenance. This proactive move not only enhances employability for youth in the automotive sector but also supports India’s National Electric Mobility Mission (NEMM), which emphasizes sustainable and energy-efficient transportation.
The training will encompass high-voltage system handling, EV components servicing, safety protocols, and diagnostics using advanced tools and techniques. By partnering with ITIs, Maruti Suzuki ensures that this knowledge reaches grassroots levels, enabling students to become job-ready in a competitive market.
Strengthening Service Infrastructure
In addition to training students, the initiative also scales up Maruti Suzuki’s own service preparedness. The company aims to ramp up its EV servicing capabilities across over 1,500 workshops, equipping technicians to handle new-age electric and hybrid vehicles safely and efficiently.
A Cross-Brand Initiative
While the training is spearheaded by Maruti Suzuki, the skills imparted are not exclusive to the brand. The curriculum is tailored to meet industry-wide needs, making trained technicians valuable assets across all automobile manufacturers. This inclusive approach sets a new benchmark for industry-academia collaboration in the auto sector.
A Sustainable Future
Mr. Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki, commented on the launch:
“The shift to EVs requires not just technological changes, but also an ecosystem ready to support it. By investing in skilling youth, we’re ensuring a smooth and inclusive transition to sustainable mobility.”
With this initiative, Maruti Suzuki continues its legacy of empowering communities and supporting national goals while preparing India for an electric future.
