Mahindra Tops the Charts in July 2025 Electric 3W Sales, Grabs 41.5% Market Share

India’s electric mobility revolution continues to gain momentum, with the electric three-wheeler (3W) segment witnessing robust growth in July 2025. According to the latest data from the Vahan Dashboard a total of 20,448 electric 3Ws were registered across India under the personal and passenger categories. This surge reflects the ongoing shift towards clean and cost-effective last-mile transportation solutions.

Mahindra Leads with a Commanding Market Share

Topping the sales chart is Mahindra Electric, which sold 8,487 units, translating to a massive 41.5% market share. This performance not only cements Mahindra’s leadership in the electric 3W space but also showcases the growing acceptance of its electric passenger and cargo auto rickshaws. The company’s wide service network, brand trust, and competitive product range have made it the preferred choice for fleet operators and urban drivers alike.

Bajaj Auto Maintains a Strong Second Position

Bajaj Auto, another legacy player with a strong foothold in India’s mobility sector, secured the second position with 7,238 units sold, claiming a 35.4% market share. Bajaj’s electric 3W offerings are gaining popularity due to their reliability, after-sales service, and widespread dealership network, especially in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.

TVS Shows Steady Growth in Third Place

TVS Motor Company emerged as the third-largest electric 3W OEM in July 2025, selling 2,209 units and capturing 10.8% of the total market. Known for innovation and rider-centric design, TVS’s electric three-wheelers are carving out a niche in both intra-city and rural segments.

Piaggio and YC Electric Also Make Their Presence Felt

In fourth place, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. registered 1,062 units, representing 5.2% market share. The company has recently expanded its electric lineup with the launch of Ape E-City Ultra and FX Maxx, further strengthening its position in this category.

YC Electric, a fast-growing name in the e-mobility space, reported 577 units, securing a 2.82% share. Their growth reflects the increasing demand for locally manufactured, affordable electric passenger rickshaws in North India.

Emerging OEMs and Niche Players on the Rise

Smaller but promising players also contributed to the July sales tally:

  • OSM (Omega Seiki Mobility) – 171 units (0.84%)
  • Lectrix EV – 113 units (0.55%)
  • Euler Motors – 72 units (0.35%)
  • Atul Auto – 71 units (0.35%)
  • Saera Electric – 65 units (0.32%)

These companies are steadily expanding their footprint through innovative models, strategic partnerships, and state-level support schemes.

Others Account for a Marginal Share

Vehicles falling under the “Others” category contributed 383 units, making up 1.87% of total sales. These could include smaller regional OEMs and startups still finding their footing in the competitive EV landscape.

Key Takeaways

  • Total Units Sold (July 2025): 20,448
  • Top 3 OEMs (by volume): Mahindra (8,487), Bajaj (7,238), TVS (2,209)
  • Combined Market Share of Top 3: 87.7%

Conclusion: Electrifying Growth Ahead

The electric 3W market in India is undergoing a significant transformation. With increasing urbanization, rising fuel prices, and favorable government incentives (like FAME-II, state EV policies, and scrappage programs), both individuals and fleet operators are transitioning to electric options at scale.

Mahindra’s leadership and Bajaj’s strong showing highlight how established OEMs are successfully adapting to the new electric landscape. At the same time, new entrants and EV-focused companies are introducing competitive models, thereby accelerating innovation and affordability in the market.

As infrastructure such as charging stations and battery-swapping networks continues to expand, the electric 3W sector is expected to be a cornerstone of India’s journey toward a sustainable transportation future.
