The Kia EV9, a highly anticipated electric SUV with a spacious interior and impressive range, is set to make its debut in the Indian market later this year. This exciting news comes on the heels of the EV9 being named the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™ – a prestigious award chosen by a jury composed entirely of women in the automotive industry.

Spaciousness and Sustainable Design

The EV9 boasts a class-leading interior, offering ample space for passengers and cargo. The innovative E-GMP platform allows for a flat floor, maximizing comfort and legroom for everyone on board. In the 6-seater version, the unique rotating center-row seats create a more interactive and social environment. The 7-seater option offers convenient one-touch folding for the second and third rows, transforming the cabin into a spacious cargo hold or a relaxation area.

Kia’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the EV9. It’s the brand’s first model to embrace their design sustainability strategy, phasing out leather and incorporating bio-based materials wherever possible.

Performance and Range

While exact specifications for the India-bound EV9 are awaited, the global versions offer a choice between two powertrains. The rear-wheel-drive option features a single electric motor delivering 203 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Upgrading to the all-wheel-drive option provides a dual-motor setup with 383 horsepower and a substantial 700 Nm of torque.

The larger 99.8 kWh battery pack offers an impressive WLTP-claimed range of up to 562 km on the rear-wheel-drive variant, making it a compelling choice for long journeys.

Expected Price and Launch

The Kia EV9 is expected to launch in India sometime in the second half of 2024. While official pricing is yet to be announced, estimates suggest a starting range of Rs. 90.00 Lakh to Rs. 1.20 Crore, depending on the variant and features chosen.

Awarded by Women, Designed for Everyone

The Kia EV9’s recognition by a jury of prominent women in the automotive industry is a significant achievement. With its blend of functionality, comfort, sustainability, and award-winning design, the EV9 is poised to be a strong contender in the Indian electric SUV market.
