The central government has been already approved the bike taxis but the Karnataka state government did not bring out any such rules.
Some of them are believing that this electric bike taxi project will revolutionise proposal from the Karnataka government and some have been sceptical about it for the lack of electric two-wheelers on the roads.
Vivekananda Hallekere, co-founder and CEO of Bounce, said that “The biggest reason bike taxis worked was that a person who had a scooter or motorbike could now make money ferrying people. The proposal by Karnataka would mean that people will need to start buying electric scooters and I don’t know how successful that would be.”
He also told that this will work out if the companies in the shared mobility space are ready to add electric scooters to their fleet.
