June 2023 sales reports for electric cars

Electric cars with the highest sales in FY23

Electric vehicle sales are growing unicorn-like to make a green future a reality. Every time an electric vehicle is produced locally, each category in this field reaches the next level of success. In addition, EV sales have changed significantly and are sometimes unpredictable. However, these sales reports are always subject to known and common factors.

The new fiscal year has begun and it’s time to close the old books, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten the previous numbers. So we’ve highlighted all the facts and figures from last year’s EV sales data. So buckle up, get ready for an exciting drive, and make the most of this article.

In a landmark moment for the Indian electric vehicle (EV) industry, sales surpassed 1 million units in a single year, a staggering 155% year-on-year growth. The surge in demand saw over 100,000 units sold for the sixth straight month, with a whopping 131,175 sold in March 2023 alone. These figures show a growing preference for electric vehicles in India as consumers seek sustainable and cost-effective alternatives to petrol and diesel vehicles.

Now let me ask you a question. When was the last time you saw a battery-powered four-wheeler on the street? Not too many, right? The reason is that sales of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers are booming because of their short driving range and people’s concerns about four-wheeler prices. It’s simple math. However, it cannot be denied that the number of electric four-wheel drive vehicles is increasing. That’s why I’ve included E4W sales data in the following article.

And what do you think? Tata Motors is a leader with the largest portfolio of electric vehicles in India. The company’s Nexon EV, Tigor EV, Tiago EV, and Xpres-T EV(for fleet buyers) outperformed their competitors with staggering 31,203 sales and a staggering 79% share of total sales.

But let’s not forget the other players who make their presence felt as well. MG Motor India and BYD India sold 4,412 and 867 units respectively, capturing 11% and 2% market share respectively. They may not be on top, but they are definitely on the right track for rivals Tata Motors.
