JBM Ecolife Mobility Secures ₹5,500 Crore Contract for 1,021 Electric Buses Under PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 🚍⚡

JBM Ecolife Mobility Pvt Ltd., a subsidiary of JBM Auto Limited, has secured a significant order valued at approximately ₹5,500 crore for the supply of 1,021 electric buses under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2. These electric buses are slated for deployment across 19 cities in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana, marking a substantial expansion in JBM’s commitment to sustainable public transportation.

Comprehensive Project Execution

Under this contract, JBM Ecolife Mobility will oversee the end-to-end execution of the project. This includes not only the manufacturing and supply of the electric buses but also the establishment of necessary charging infrastructure and the provision of comprehensive maintenance services throughout the buses’ operational lifespan. The project is designed under a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model, ensuring a structured and financially viable framework for both the service provider and the municipalities involved.

Environmental and Operational Impact

The deployment of these 1,021 electric buses is projected to significantly enhance urban mobility while contributing to environmental sustainability. Over their 12-year operational period, these buses are expected to cover over 32 billion passenger kilometers, leading to a reduction of more than 1 billion tons of CO₂ emissions. This initiative aligns with India’s broader climate goals and efforts to reduce urban pollution through the adoption of clean energy solutions in public transportation.

Strategic Significance

This order bolsters JBM Auto’s position as a key player in India’s electric mobility sector. With an existing order book exceeding 11,000 electric buses, the company is poised to play a pivotal role in transforming the country’s public transportation landscape. The PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 aims to modernize urban transit systems by integrating electric buses, thereby reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting sustainable urban development.

Company’s Vision

Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of JBM Auto, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We are pleased to participate in this initiative to improve public mobility across India. This order reflects our focus on providing sustainable public mobility solutions. JBM is working to make electric mobility more accessible and environmentally responsible.

Future Outlook

As JBM Ecolife Mobility embarks on this extensive project, the company reaffirms its dedication to advancing electric mobility solutions that are both economically viable and environmentally friendly. This initiative is expected to set a precedent for future collaborations and projects aimed at revolutionizing public transportation in India through sustainable practices.
