Tata Motors has introduced Dark Editions to its Harrier and Safari models. Nexon EV then got the Dark Edition treatment in July 2021. The brand has since launched a long-range Nexon EV version called EV Max in May 2022. Previously, EV Max also had a Jet Edition, which was later discontinued. As a result of the launch of the Dark Edition, the e-SUV now comes in black, which enhances its design. The Nexon EV Max Dark comes in two flavors, XZ+LUX and XZ+LUX, and comes with a 7.2kW AC wall box charger.
Here is an overview of Nexon’s EV Max Dark from the outside perspective
The exterior of the EV Max Dark Edition is immediately eye-catching with its striking color scheme. The vehicle is finished in an all-new Midnight Black livery that lives up to its name. A large majority of the blue elements have been replaced with black, except for the lower grille and fog lamp housings. This gives the car a sophisticated and elegant look.
The 16-inch alloy wheels are finished in Charcoal Black, which complements the overall aesthetic of this all-electric compact SUV.
The SUV’s fenders are decorated with #Dark mascots and dark backgrounds.
Other notable exterior highlights include the Satin Black Humanity line, projector headlights with tri-arrow DRL, arrow-style LED taillights, power sunroof, shark fin antenna, and roof rails. Right side view

The EV Max, on the other hand, does not have the “Max” badge on the back to distinguish it from its standard Nexon EV.

When you step inside, you are greeted by an all-black interior design with tri-arrow patterns on the seat upholstery and center console. The dashboard is equipped with a new center display. However, the layout is almost identical to the standard Nexon EV Max.
Another eye-catching highlight is the blue stitching on the seat fabric and leather steering wheel.
In addition, the seats and headrests are also embossed with a logo that represents #Dark.
It is the same blue accents that are carried over to the interior of the car, as well as the decorations on the dashboard, air conditioning vents, instrument cluster housing, and the center console.
Now let’s take a look at the exciting features of the Nexon EV Max Dark and see what it has to offer
EV Max Dark Edition includes some features that are only available in the recently updated Harrier and Safari releases. This is the most significant change in this edition.
Harman’s speculative 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit is a direct inheritance from its older brother. It is also equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. In addition, there is a voice assistant system with 6 different regional languages and over 200 commands in languages like English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Telugu.
Needless to say, the center console also has a similarly bejeweled control knob or gear selector.
Other key features include an electronic parking brake with automatic hold, ventilated front seats, air cleaner, wireless charger, automatic climate control, and cruise control. It also has a 7-inch instrument cluster, auto-dimming IRVM, automated headlights, sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, smart key with start/stop button, and an 8-speaker setup.
In terms of safety, the Nexon EV Max is equipped with features such as ESP, uphill and downhill assist, i-TPMS, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and an edge-to-edge reversing camera.
This Tata electric vehicle also features a smart connectivity suite with the ZConnect mobile app, smartwatch connectivity, location services, and more.
It is now time for us to discuss the power that it is powered by
Max on the Nexon EV Max stands for maximum range, and it delivers a larger battery pack than its regular Nexon EV. The compact electric SUV is powered by a 40.5 kWh battery pack powered by electric motors mounted on the front wheels. This engine produces 141 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. EV Max has a range of 453 km on a full charge and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in less than 9 seconds. Also available are 4 levels of multi-regenerative mode, 3 driving modes including Eco, City, and Sport, and all disc brake settings.
Even better, the electric SUV has three charging options. The first is a 3.3 kW mains charger that charges the vehicle from 10% to 100% in 15 hours. Then there is the 7.2 kW AC fast home charger, with a zero to 100% charge time of 6.5 hours. The vehicle also supports a DC fast charger, which takes about 56 minutes to power up from zero to 80%. As for warranties, the automaker offers an eight-year or 1,00,000-mile (1,60,000 km) warranty (whichever comes first) on the Nexon EV Max battery and motor.
We are now going to talk about pricing and competition in the market
The Indian automaker prices the Tata Nexon EV Max Dark Edition at Rs. The XZ+ LUX and XZ+ LUX are priced at 19.04 lakh and Rs. 19.54 lakh respectively (all showroom prices) for the 7.2kW AC fast-charging variant. In terms of competition, there are only a few other EVs that compete with the Nexon EV Max Dark, such as the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and India’s Hyundai Kona.
