Is Ola going to unveil new motorcycles on August 15?

Ola’s annual launch day marks a new beginning

Ola Electric has set several milestones on its journey. Together with its clients, they have achieved incredible results at unicorn speed.

On this coming August 15th, Ola will once again complete its successful year, and continue its successful journey to the next stage. On Independence Day, they launched their first electric scooter, marking the end of the ICE era.

In a previous announcement, Ola Electric announced that five electric motorcycles were on their way. A few months ago, the company unveiled five new electric motorcycles powered by the SoftBank-backed company, revealing the range the electric scooter will have after its launch.

The new products are called Cafe Racer, Adventure Tourer, Scrambler, and Naked Bike. They had previously planned to release this bike next year. However, according to current reports, Ola’s birthday celebrations are set to take place as he prepares to launch its first e-bike on his August 15th birthday. As per the report, we can assume that there will be a premium version and a mass-market version. The clues we witnessed further corroborate this report. Bhavish Aggarwal, founder, and CEO of Ola Electric, has been outspoken about motorcycles on Twitter and was recently spotted testing them on a test track.

The fact that Bhavish Agarwal is involved with a manufacturer of two-wheeled vehicles with internal combustion engines is also nothing new. The latest additions to this list are Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto, which teased their collaborations with legendary internal combustion motorcycle manufacturers Harley-Davidson and Triumph respectively.

Also, his tweet came shortly after the launch of the Harley-Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400. In a tweet, Bhavish Aggarwal mentioned Hero MotoCorp’s collaboration with Harley-Davidson, Bajaj, and Triumph. He did not directly name the company. However, this cryptic tweet points to a collaboration between Bajaj Triumph, Hero MotoCorp, and Harley-Davidson. Bajaj Auto partnered with British motorcycle icon Triumph in 2017, but Hero MotoCorp partnered with the US motorcycle giant in late 2020 as Harley-Davidson scaled back its operations in India.

In his tweet, Bhavish Aggarwal wrote that he could not understand why some car companies were so enamored with Western internal combustion engine motorcycle brands custom-built in India. “We are shaping the future of motorcycles for the whole world with electric vehicles and #MakeInIndia,” Ola’s CEO tweeted. “I don’t understand why some companies are obsessed with custom manufacturing the old Western ICE motorcycle brand in India.”

Interestingly, Bhavish Aggarwal’s tweet received some criticism. In response to Ola’s post, several Twitter users said electric car makers should fix the quality issues with the Ola S1 electric scooter first before bragging about others. Also, Ola’s CEO’s tweet came shortly after the company’s official recall regarding quality issues. Amid mounting concerns from owners, Ola Electric officially announced a recall earlier this March to improve the scooter’s front fork design to improve durability and strength. Since its launch, many Ola S1 electric scooters have reported electric vehicle quality issues, such as broken front forks and software bugs.

Ola Electric has already announced that it will launch an electric sports car in 2024. This puts the company in competition with Indian giants Tata Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, and other global industry giants.

Ola has expanded its range of scooters with the Ola S1 portfolio and the Ola S1 Air. A new 2 kWh battery variant has been added to the Ola S1 portfolio. The Ola S1 Air was presented in three new variants with 2 kWh, 3 kWh, and 4 kWh batteries. Ola founder and CEO Bhavish Agarwal said India is already one of the world’s largest electric vehicle markets in the premium running scooter segment. He added that the Ola community is truly leading the EV revolution in India, with nearly 200,000 delighted customers. With this, they have a mission to dominate, and the goal of having all two-wheelers in India electrified by the end of 2025 is profitable.

A new year has begun and Ola is fast approaching their goals. With their trust, we can expect an unexpected and far different driving experience from their upcoming products. Even with just a teaser, Ola enthusiasts can’t wait to see the full look and get a chance to test the product. If this report becomes a reality, their wish will soon come true. So please wait a little longer until August 15th.
