The Indian electric two-wheeler market recorded steady growth in August 2025 , with most manufacturers posting positive month-on-month (MoM) sales. The latest Vahan data shows that established leaders such as TVS Motor, Ola Electric, and Ather Energy maintained momentum, while Hero MotoCorp and Kinetic Green Energy posted impressive growth rates. However, Bajaj Auto faced a steep decline, making it the biggest underperformer of the month.

TVS Motor remained the market leader with 24,087 units sold , an 8.35% increase over July. Its iQube series continues to drive demand, backed by a strong dealer network and consumer trust.
Ola Electric retained the second spot, selling 18,972 units in August. The company grew 6.30% MoM , reflecting stable demand for its S1 series. Ola’s charging infrastructure expansion and pricing strategy are helping sustain sales.
Ather Energy – Consistent Double-Digit Growth Ather Energy posted a 10% rise , reaching 17,856 units in August. With this, Ather recorded its best month of 2025 so far, driven by expanding retail outlets and customer preference for premium scooters.
Hero MotoCorp – Highest Growth Rate Hero MotoCorp was the fastest-growing OEM in August, with sales surging 26.92% to 13,313 units . The growth reflects rising consumer confidence in the Vida brand, aided by Hero’s vast dealership reach.
Bajaj Auto – Major Sales Decline Bajaj Auto was the only top player to register negative growth, with sales falling 40.31% to 11,730 units . This decline highlights potential supply chain issues or production adjustments that affected deliveries.
Smaller OEMs – Positive Momentum
Greaves Electric Mobility grew steadily to 4,498 units (+7.16%) .Pure Energy rose slightly to 1,779 units (+5.39%) .BGauss Auto advanced to 1,720 units (+7.97%) .River Mobility reached 1,657 units (+9.22%) , showing increasing market traction.Kinetic Green Energy stood out with 23.41% growth , crossing 1,500 units and proving its strength in tier-2 and tier-3 markets.
Market Outlook The August 2025 results show that while market leaders continue to strengthen their positions , challengers like Hero MotoCorp and Kinetic Green Energy are gaining momentum. Bajaj Auto’s sharp fall underscores the volatility in this rapidly evolving sector.
Looking ahead, the festive season in September–October is expected to give a major push to EV sales, supported by new product launches, festive offers, and consumer-friendly financing schemes. With strong policy support and charging infrastructure expansion, India’s EV two-wheeler market is on track for a record-breaking year.
