Honda’s First Electric Scooter Activa E Now at Dealerships
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially entered the electric mobility market with the unveiling of the Activa e: and QC 1 electric scooters. Deliveries for the highly anticipated Activa e: commenced in February 2025, starting with Bengaluru, followed by Mumbai and Delhi in April. This marks a significant step forward in Honda’s push toward sustainable transportation solutions.
The Activa e: is powered by two swappable 1.5 kWh battery packs, delivering a remarkable range of 102 km on a single charge. This impressive range makes the Activa e: ideal for daily commutes, ensuring that riders can cover long distances with ease.
Key to the success of the Activa e: is Honda’s innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. The scooter is powered by two swappable 1.5 kWh battery packs, ensuring reduced upfront costs and eliminating range anxiety.
Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited (HEID), the subsidiary behind the battery-swapping ecosystem, is rapidly expanding its network. The company currently operates 84 battery-swapping stations in Bengaluru and plans to scale this up to 250 outlets by March 2026. Similarly, Delhi will see 150 stations, and Mumbai will host 100 stations within the same timeframe. In addition, HEID is ensuring that swapping stations are conveniently placed within a 5 km radius in urban areas, further enhancing accessibility.
The Activa e: uses HEID batteries exclusively, and the swapping process is designed for maximum convenience. A single swap takes less than a minute, allowing users to replace depleted batteries swiftly and continue their journeys seamlessly. This system aims to set new benchmarks for usability in the electric two-wheeler segment.
Bookings for both models opened on January 1, 2025, with detailed pricing and rental costs for the battery packs expected to be revealed the same month.
With the launch of the Activa e: and QC 1, Honda is further establishing itself as a major player in the electric scooter market. These scooters offer a variety of innovative features, from swappable batteries to advanced connectivity options, making them ideal choices for those looking to embrace eco-friendly and efficient commuting solutions. As electric vehicles become increasingly popular, the Activa e: and QC 1 represent Honda’s commitment to providing quality, sustainable, and affordable options for Indian consumers.
