Honda Sells 4,178 E-Scooters in Four Months; QC1 Outpaces Activa E in Market Demand
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), a relatively recent entrant in the electric vehicle (EV) segment, is beginning to make notable strides. According to industry data, Honda has dispatched 4,178 electric scooters to its dealers over the span of four months, from February to May 2025. These sales are split between its two newly launched EV models — the Activa E and the Honda QC1 .
Interestingly, it’s the QC1 that has emerged as the unexpected frontrunner in the early stages of Honda’s electric two-wheeler journey. Despite the Activa name carrying strong legacy value and brand recognition in the petrol-powered scooter market, the QC1 is outperforming it in dealer dispatches — indicating stronger initial demand and possibly better customer reception for the QC1’s unique features, pricing, or design.
Between February and May 2025, Honda manufactured a total of 9,432 units of the Activa E and QC1 combined. This reveals a stock-building strategy and readiness to ramp up distribution as the market warms up to its EV offerings. However, with only 4,178 units dispatched so far, HMSI is still pacing its rollout carefully, likely monitoring customer feedback, dealership preparedness, and service infrastructure.
Honda’s foray into the electric scooter segment comes at a time of rapid EV adoption in India, where both government policy and consumer sentiment are shifting toward greener mobility options. While established players like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and TVS have already gained ground, Honda’s entry is being closely watched, given its legacy and reach in the ICE (internal combustion engine) two-wheeler segment.
The Activa E , modeled on the iconic Activa platform, aims to capture loyal customers transitioning to EVs, while the QC1 , which appears to be a more experimental or urban-centric offering, seems to have resonated well with early adopters and younger consumers.
With half of the produced stock yet to be dispatched, it remains to be seen how Honda scales its EV operations in the coming months. Factors like pricing strategy, battery range, charging infrastructure, government subsidies, and after-sales service will play key roles in determining whether Honda can climb the ranks in the competitive EV two-wheeler landscape.
