Honda files case against Hero Electric for copying its
scooter design
Honda India has filed a case against the Hero Electric for copying its scooter design ‘Honda Moove.’ The Honda claims that the Hero Electric has violated the registered design of the Honda’s Moove scooter to create its own electric scooter, the ‘Dash.’

These days imitation is not tolerable by many companies and taking their copycats to court. Recently, this case was also recently happened with the Vespa, the two Chinese Copycats have copied its design and Vespa wins the case. Similarly, the Honda filed a petition but it’s not against on some other country but India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer.
Hero Electric launched new electric scooter ‘Dash’ at Rs 62,000
The Honda Motorcycles have filed a petition with the Delhi High Court for an ad interim injunction against Hero Electric. The Hero electric infringed upon the registered design of Honda’s Moove scooter to create its own electric scooter, the Dash. Honda claims Hero Electric copied the front and rear lights, front cowl, and side panels.
The Hero Electric was summoned by the Delhi High Court to hear the allegations and respond. If the court orders then the Hero Electric will not be able to manufacture, sell or advertise its Dash electric scooter.
The Honda Moove is a petrol-powered 110cc scooter and it is available in Thailand and it is not in India. Whereas the Hero Electric Dash is an electric scooter that was introduced to the Indian market just last year which gives a range of 60 km on a single charge of four and eight hours.
Recently Hero Electric launched the Optima ER which has been priced at Rs 68,721 (ex-showroom, India) whereas the Hero Electric Nyx ER costs Rs 69,754 (ex-showroom, India). The Optima ER with a range of 110 km and Nyx ER have a range of 100 km are available to buy across all the Hero Electric dealership.
Hero Electric sales
The Hero Electric sold nearly 3 lakh low speed, heavy-duty and high-speed electric two-wheelers in India till now. A total of 7,59,000 electric vehicles sold in India during 2018-19 with electric three-wheelers accounts for 6,30,000 units and electric two-wheelers at 1,26,000 units and electric cars holds a count of 3,600 units.
