Honda Debuts E-VO Electric Motorcycle in China, Blending Retro Charm with Modern Innovation

In a bold stride toward the future of mobility, Honda has unveiled its first-ever electric motorcycle—the Honda E-VO—in China. Developed in partnership with Wuyang-Honda, the E-VO is a stylish fusion of vintage cafe racer aesthetics and cutting-edge technology, signaling the company’s serious entry into the electric two-wheeler segment.

Performance & Powertrain

At the heart of the E-VO is a 15.8kW (21 hp) electric motor, capable of achieving a top speed of 120 kmph. Buyers can choose between two battery configurations:

  • Dual-battery setup (4.1kWh) offering a range of 120 km
  • Triple-battery setup (6.2kWh) offering an extended range of 170 km

Both variants support fast charging, with a full recharge time ranging from 1 to 2.5 hours, making it a practical option for urban commuters and weekend riders alike.

Design & Features

Built on a lightweight forged aluminum frame, the Honda E-VO captures the spirit of classic motorcycles while embracing modern convenience and safety. Highlights include:

  • Dual 7-inch TFT displays for rich visual feedback
  • Dual dashcams (front and rear on the higher-spec model)
  • TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
  • Turn-by-turn navigation
  • Three riding modes to suit different riding conditions
  • Dual-channel ABS for enhanced braking performance
  • Ergonomics designed for rider comfort and accessibility

The E-VO’s retro-styled bodywork, round headlamp, and minimalist tail section reinforce its classic cafe racer roots, appealing to riders who appreciate timeless design with a modern twist.

Pricing & Availability

The Honda E-VO is currently available exclusively in China, priced between CNY 30,000 to 37,000, which translates to approximately ₹3.56 lakh to ₹4.38 lakh. While this premium pricing reflects the advanced features on offer, it positions the E-VO as a lifestyle product for enthusiasts and early adopters.

India Plans on the Horizon

Though the E-VO is not yet available in India, Honda has announced plans for an India-specific EV plant by 2028, strongly indicating future launches tailored for Indian roads and riders. This move aligns with the growing push for electrification in India’s two-wheeler market, and the E-VO could serve as a blueprint for upcoming models.

Conclusion

With the launch of the E-VO, Honda has made a powerful statement in the electric motorcycle space—combining heritage design with modern performance and tech. While it remains China-exclusive for now, the E-VO’s debut gives a glimpse of what the future may hold for Honda’s electric lineup globally, including in markets like India.
