Grinntech announces launch of a new manufacturing plant with 400 MWh capacity

India’s leading lithium-ion battery technology provider Grinntech has announced the launch of its larger manufacturing plant. The facility is built on a one-acre plot located in Chennai’s Ambattur Industrial Estate and will have the capacity to produce 400 MWh per year which is used for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, farm tractors and light vehicles.

Grinntech announces launch of a new manufacturing plant

Grinntech had signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu involving an investment of Rs. 100 Crores. The Grinntech Co-Founder, Puneet Jain said that “Our state-of-the-art plant is a modern facility that will leverage the infrastructural and supply chain advantages of our strategic location. We have installed an optimal level of automation and have deployed contemporary quality control principles keeping in mind the quality expectations of our customers and our own productivity and safety targets.”

The facility will also manufacture Grinntech’s proprietary and award-winning Battery Management Systems to address the growth of electric vehicles in India.

The new facility will also have a modern R&D wing. The company is involved with many projects with the start-ups, established OEMs and also overseas customers.

A few months back the company was in talks with OEMs to supply batteries and related systems. It has planned an outlay of almost Rs 100 crore for research and development, product development and production facilities which results in the employment of 250 staff in next 5 years.

It has unveiled a range of high-tech batteries with a unique design which suits the Indian conditions. It has IoT enabled BMS to power electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and tractors or light vehicles.
