Hyderabad, June 28, 2025 — In a landmark deal that reshapes the ownership structure of one of India’s top renewable energy firms, AM Green Power B.V., backed by Greenko’s founding promoters, has acquired a 17.5% stake in Greenko Energy Holdings from Japan’s ORIX Corporation.
This strategic acquisition sees ORIX divesting its entire stake in Greenko Energy Holdings, and in turn, taking a minority position in AM Green (Luxembourg) — the holding entity for AM Green Power. The move is in line with ORIX’s capital recycling strategy, while continuing its alliance with the original Greenko leadership under the AM Green brand.
Reinforcing Renewable Energy Leadership
AM Green, envisioned as a future-ready clean energy platform, will use this acquisition to fuel its expansion into green hydrogen, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure. The ownership realignment gives AM Green increased control and agility to execute its green energy roadmap.
The deal also highlights a deepening strategic partnership between the two companies, with ORIX shifting focus to support AM Green’s broader, next-gen sustainability initiatives.
Global Capital, Local Impact
The transaction underscores the importance of international capital partnerships in advancing India’s clean energy ambitions. With India striving to meet its net-zero targets, this move further strengthens AM Green’s capacity to drive large-scale renewable projects.
AM Green’s Strategic Advantage
With this shift, AM Green positions itself at the forefront of India’s energy transition. The firm’s integrated approach to clean energy, paired with international investor backing, will play a crucial role in shaping India’s decarbonization journey.
