This decision has been made to boost electric vehicles demand. Along with boosting plans, the country is also planning to penalise the large polluting ICE (internal combustion engine) SUVs and provide a EUR 6,000 subsidy towards EV costs. This is a great initiative taken by the Germany government.

The Energy storage specialist The Mobility House, with investors including Daimler and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance suggested that making a commitment to electric vehicles and establishing electric mobility as a technology of the future.

EUR 2.5 billion on battery cell production and charging infrastructure

Germany plans to spend EUR 2.5 billion on battery cell production and charging infrastructure. The demand for electric cars is mostly constrained by concerns over a limited range of vehicles. Electric cars only made up 1.8% of new passenger car registrations in Germany last year, with diesel and petrol cars accounting for 32% and 59.2%, respectively.

Germany’s initiative will give a substantial boost to electric vehicles adoption in the country said Diego Biasi, chairman and co-founder in Quercus Real Assets.

As we all know why the growth of electric vehicles is slow, about 97% reason is the range of anxiety among the customers. If sufficient charging infrastructure is provided in the country then the range anxiety will definitely vanish from the consumers and people will be more attracted towards future technology.
