EzUrja and Andrew Yule & Co. Partner to Launch India’s First Microgrid-Integrated EV Charging Hub in Kolkata
Kolkata, April 2025 – In a pioneering move towards sustainable transportation and energy innovation, EzUrja Private Limited, in collaboration with Andrew Yule & Company Ltd, a Government of India undertaking, has announced the development of a Microgrid-integrated EV Charging Hub at Togami, Thakurpukur, Kolkata. Spanning across 2 acres, this cutting-edge facility will host 300 electric vehicle (EV) chargers, making it one of the largest and most advanced green mobility infrastructures in the region.
At the core of the project is a state-of-the-art microgrid that will seamlessly integrate solar, wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This intelligent energy ecosystem is designed to ensure efficient EV charging with minimal dependence on conventional grid power, enhancing both sustainability and reliability. The integration of renewable energy sources will significantly reduce carbon emissions, support grid resilience, and drive the transition to clean transportation.
In a significant step towards real-world application, EzUrja is also collaborating with Snap-E Cabs, a leading electric fleet operator, to deploy and utilize this infrastructure for their growing fleet of electric vehicles. The hub is expected to not only serve fleet operators but also be open to the public, encouraging the adoption of EVs among private users and commercial operators alike.
“This is more than just an EV charging station—it’s a model for the future of urban mobility,” said a spokesperson from EzUrja. “By combining clean energy generation, smart storage, and high-capacity charging, we’re building a scalable solution for India’s EV ecosystem.”
The initiative aligns with India’s broader goals of achieving net-zero emissions and electrifying transport by leveraging innovative, decentralized energy systems. With support from a government-backed PSU like Andrew Yule & Co., the project reflects a strong public-private partnership aimed at driving sustainable development.
Key Highlights of the Project:
- Location: Togami, Thakurpukur, Kolkata
- Area: 2 acres
- Number of EV Chargers: 300
- Energy Sources: Solar, Wind, and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
- Partners: EzUrja Private Limited, Andrew Yule & Co. Ltd, and Snap-E Cabs
Construction is set to begin shortly, with phased rollout expected to commence within the next 12 months.
