EV charging stations revised guidelines

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued an amendment to its guidelines and standards for the charging infrastructure of electric vehicles (EVs). In December 2018 the guidelines were issued by the Ministry and were revised in October 2019.




The amendment has now added a clause for all practical purposes, the battery charging station (BCS) will be treated at par with the public charging station (PCS), and the applicable tariff for electricity supply will also be the same as for the PCS (any EV charging station, while BCS implies a station where the discharged or partially discharged batteries of EVs can be recharged electrically. As per the guidelines the captive charging stations will be fully owned by the owner of the charging station and will be used for commercial purposes.

BluSmart Reduces CO2 Emission By 1 Ton per day 

Founder of BluSmart ‘Anmol Jaggi’ announced that their electric car fleet has completed 4.75 million clean pollution-free kilometres by making 175,000 zero-emission trips in Delhi-NCR. BluSmart has saved 325 tonnes of Co2 since its launch on 4th June 2019.

On average, its electric car fleet Reduces CO2 Emission By 1 Ton/Day. Also, their cabs are being deep cleaned and sanitized, twice a day during the charging time and taking proper measures for sanitization after each trip

Honda Activa scooter converted into electric 

A Pune based EV specialist Hemank Dabhade converted a Honda Activa scooter into an electric scooter which gives a range of 45 km. As electric vehicles are very popular in India and its quite popular in the EV industry too. Currently in India, we have electric scooters from popular brands such as Ather Energy, Bajaj Auto, Hero Electric, TVS, etc.




Amara Raja and Gridtential Energy partners for Bipolar Battery Technology

The retrofitted scooter is equipped with a 1kW (1.34bhp) BLDC motor coupled to a 1.44kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It can give a top speed of 65 kmph. On a full charge, it can give 45 km on a single riding and with a pillion, it can give 35 km. It can be charged with a regular wall charger which will take time around 4 to 4.5 hours. The battery is placed under the seat storage compartment and Hemank wants to move it to footboard in his next electric scooter.

India’s First Electric Truck

A UK company named Faradion has announced a partnership with the Gurgaon-based Infraprime Logistics Technologies (IPLTech) for its high energy sodium-ion batteries to use in the Rhino 5536
electric Truck, India’s First heavy-duty electric Truck. 

Unlike lithium-ion batteries,sodium-ion batteries have exceptional thermal stability and safety. Further they can be safely transported and maintained at zero volts.

Ampere Vehicles New Electric Scooter

Ampere Electric Vehicles acquired by Greaves Cotton has announced about its upcoming electric Scooter. From its teaser, we can expect it is going to be a high-speed electric scooter. Ampere’s upcoming electric scooter will compete with the chetak, iQube and Ather 450x electric scooters which have been already launched in India. Its complete specifications and details is not been disclosed yet.

MG Motor India partners Tata Power for super-fast chargers

Mg Motors has tied up with TATA Power to setup 50kW superfast chargers for EVs at selected locations. These chargers can be used by MG zs EV customers as well as other Electric car owners whose vehicles are compatible with the CCS/CHAdeMO chargers.




Greece announced subsidies for electric vehicles

The Greek government has announced extensive subsidies to foster electric mobility in the country. It aims for one in three new vehicles in Greece to be electric in 2030 as the country is introducing buying premiums and charging infrastructure.

CATL-Electric vehicle battery that can last for 16 years

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd (CATL), the world’s largest Chinese battery manufacturer developed a battery pack that lasts or more than a million miles that means it can last for 16 years. The company makes electric car batteries for Tesla Inc. and Volkswagen AG.
