Electric vehicles road tax exemption & subsidies of each state in India
Electric vehicles are significantly more expensive than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. For this reason, many states have come up with the electric vehicles financial incentive program. The central government and state governments are providing purchase incentives for electric vehicles in India. Here in this article, we will be looking at the incentives provided to electric two-wheelers and electric four-wheelers in each state of India. The industry has witnessed a strong government push over the last two years to increase EV penetration in India. This push can be observed in terms of incentives offered under the FAME-II scheme and waiving off registration fees and road tax by many states.
100% road tax exemption states
The consumer capital subsidies, user subsidies, or demand generation incentives. The States with 100% road tax exemption are Delhi, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.
Whereas Gujarat and Kerala have 50% and Madhya Pradesh 99% on electric two-wheelers and for four-wheelers (electric cars and SUVs) also its the similar but only Uttar Pradesh govt is providing 75% exemption on electric four-wheelers.
