DTC approves procurements of 300 electric buses
The Delhi Transport Corporation has approved bids for procurement of 300 air-conditioned low-floor e-buses. The Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has committed to reducing the pollution levels in the country. In this regard last month only he launched the ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign to promote the adoption of electric vehicles. The Cabinet has approved for 300 electric buses and will start in October and the induction will be completed by next February.

The electric buses will have state-of-the-art features such as a real-time passenger information system, CCTVs, panic buttons, GPS and other facilities.
According to the statement, these electric buses are also much concerned about the safety of the passengers especially women passengers. It has newly-built Command and Control Centre of the Transport Department.
The CM has also tweeted that “Along with private vehicles, we are also committed to switching public transport to electric,” Kejriwal tweeted. “Delhi will defeat pollution with the joint efforts of the people & the government. Our EV Policy will set a precedent for the world.”

Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has also floated an open tender for the procurement of 300 electric air-conditioned buses in December 2020. Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said that we have seen thousands of new buses added to the DTC and close to 600 new electric buses also inducted under the cluster scheme too.
Last year, Olectra Greentech a MEIL Group company was also assigned to supply 30 electric buses to Dehradun, 150 to Surat city and 25 buses to Silvassa.
The company has received 775 electric buses under FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) from various States.
