DENSO Corporation to Invest ₹250 Crore in New EV Motor Plant in Noida

Noida, India — July 28, 2025: In a significant step towards bolstering India’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, Japanese automotive technology leader DENSO Corporation has announced an investment of ₹250 crore to set up a new manufacturing facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This facility will focus on the production of motors for electric and hybrid vehicles, marking a critical development in the country’s EV component manufacturing landscape.

The investment is being carried out in collaboration with Invest UP, the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s investment promotion and facilitation agency. The strategic support from the state government highlights Uttar Pradesh’s growing importance as a hub for EV and automotive manufacturing, leveraging its infrastructure, skilled workforce, and favorable policy environment.

Boosting Localized EV Component Manufacturing

The upcoming plant will be dedicated to the production of high-efficiency electric motors used in both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). These components are essential for the electrification of mobility and form the backbone of electric drivetrains. By manufacturing these motors locally, DENSO aims to reduce the reliance on imports, lower production costs for OEMs, and accelerate the adoption of EVs in the Indian market.

This move aligns with the Indian government’s Make in India and Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) initiatives, which encourage localized manufacturing and green mobility solutions.

Strategic Significance for India’s EV Supply Chain

India’s EV market is expanding rapidly, and a robust domestic supply chain for critical components is crucial for long-term sustainability and cost competitiveness. DENSO’s investment not only enhances local value addition but also signals growing confidence among global automotive giants in India’s EV potential.

Once operational, the Noida facility is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities and stimulate local ancillary industries, including suppliers of magnetics, metals, and electronic components. It will also likely become a key supplier to Indian EV manufacturers and possibly to export markets in Asia and beyond.

DENSO’s Vision for Electrification

As part of its global vision to achieve carbon neutrality and lead the transformation towards sustainable mobility, DENSO has been ramping up its focus on electrification technologies. The Noida facility will play an integral role in that global roadmap, while also serving as a model for international-standard manufacturing practices in India.

Government & Industry Response

Senior officials from Invest UP welcomed the decision, highlighting it as a testament to Uttar Pradesh’s proactive industrial policies and investor-friendly environment. “DENSO’s investment is a landmark moment for the state’s EV ambitions. It reflects the success of our efforts to position UP as a preferred destination for high-tech, sustainable industries,” a spokesperson stated.

Industry experts believe that such investments will serve as catalysts for attracting further global participation in India’s EV sector, particularly in high-value components like batteries, motors, controllers, and power electronics.

In Summary
DENSO Corporation’s ₹250 crore investment in a new motor manufacturing plant in Noida is a strategic boost for India’s EV supply chain. With the backing of the UP government, the project is poised to drive innovation, self-reliance, and job creation—cementing India’s position in the global EV transition.
