BYD Unveils Yangwang U7 EV Featuring Groundbreaking Self-Lifting Magnetic Suspension

Shenzhen, China — April 7, 2025

BYD has officially unveiled the Yangwang U7, a new high-performance electric luxury sedan under its premium sub-brand, showcasing a revolutionary self-lifting magnetic suspension system. The U7 aims to set a new benchmark in EV technology and comfort, targeting high-end rivals like the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Lucid Air.

The Yangwang U7 is not just another electric car—it represents BYD’s ambition to redefine automotive innovation. The most eye-catching highlight of the vehicle is its DiSus-X intelligent chassis system, which allows the car to lift itself off the ground using electromagnetic suspension. This feature not only enhances ride comfort and stability, but also allows for real-time adjustments to road conditions and driving styles.

According to BYD, the self-lifting magnetic suspension can independently raise each wheel and offers millisecond-level response, delivering a smoother ride and improving dynamic performance in corners, bumps, and uneven terrain. This tech, previously seen in concept vehicles, is now being brought to production with the U7.

Under the hood, the Yangwang U7 is powered by a quad-motor all-wheel-drive setup, rumored to produce over 1,000 horsepower, propelling the sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds. It’s built on BYD’s e⁴ platform, designed for top-tier EVs with advanced powertrain and safety features.

The U7’s design reflects its premium status with a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette, hidden door handles, and a bold front fascia bearing the signature Yangwang design language. Inside, it offers a tech-laden cabin with AI-driven interfaces, premium materials, and a focus on passenger luxury.

BYD has not yet confirmed the full specs or pricing, but the Yangwang U7 is expected to go on sale later this year, starting in China and expanding to international markets in 2026.

With the introduction of the U7 and its magnetic suspension technology, BYD is signaling its intent to compete in the global premium EV market, combining cutting-edge engineering with its growing dominance in electric mobility.
