Electric vehicles that will shape the future

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), known not only for producing outstanding SUVs such as Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery under the esteemed Land Rover brand but also for manufacturing luxury Jaguar vehicles, has set its sights on notable milestones. At the JLR Stakeholder Investors Day conference on June 12, 2023, JLR’s anticipated portfolio unveiled five next-generation electric vehicles that will lay the foundation for a prosperous future. JLR expects sales of over £28 billion in 2024.

Backing of Tata Motors to JLR

Tata Motors recently invested £4 billion to build a state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) battery factory (the Gigafactory) in the UK. This revolutionary project could be the reason for JLR’s commitment to launch five electric vehicles by 2025. The initiative will create thousands of job opportunities throughout the supply chain and demonstrate a positive impact on the country’s automotive industry.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Snack warmly hailed the milestone as a moment of honor and pride for the country’s automotive sector. He emphasized that the Tata Group’s decision to invest in the UK highlights the strength and vitality of the country’s automotive industry. This is underpinned by a highly skilled workforce. As part of this landmark venture, Tata Motors, owner of the UK’s famous Jaguar Land Rover, will be a major customer for the upcoming gigafactory. The initial production volume of 40 GWh is expected to be one of the largest in Europe. This represents a breakthrough for the region’s electric vehicle ecosystem.

Production at this state-of-the-art gigafactory is set to start in 2026 and will play a central role in the Prime Minister’s vision of revitalizing and expanding the UK economy. The construction of this state-of-the-art facility is fully in line with the government’s commitment to foster sustainable growth and innovation in the automotive sector.

JLR’s Investment in Upcoming Five Electric Cars

A strong statement of £15bn over five years in driving electrification and digital innovation has been made. Following visionary ambition, the company is poised to usher in an exciting era of sustainable manufacturing at its prestigious Halewood facility in the UK.

Here’s the roadmap for £15bn in EVs:

  • A £15 billion investment in JLR’s industrial footprint, vehicle programs, autonomous, AI, and digital technologies, and people skills over the next five years
  • An all-electric Halewood plant is planned for JLR’s Merseyside plant
  • Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre to be renamed by JLR at Wolverhampton, UK
  • With new House of Brands approach, JLR reaffirms Reimagine strategy
  • A pure-electric medium-size SUV architecture will be developed for the next generation
  • Later this year, Range Rover’s first all-electric model will be available for pre-order
  • Jaguar’s first reimagined electric vehicle will be a four-door GT built in Solihull, United Kingdom

But the story stretches beyond Jaguar Land Rover’s incredible dedication. While researching the facts, we learned that Jaguar Land Rover plans to launch five products instead of four. There has been no public announcement of this.

Here are four models dubbed “Refocus 2.0” that the company plans to produce:

  1. Range Rover
  2. Defender
  3. Discovery
  4. Jaguar
