BPCL joins Ather to expand EV charger network

The BPCL pumps will be equipped with EV charging stations set up by Ather

BPCL joins hands with Ather Energy to expand its chains across the country’s EV field. It is expected that this collaboration will help to expand the largest network of EV charging stations in India.

In the country, there are more than 21000 fuel stations operated by BPCL. As a result of this partnership, Ather Energy will be able to access the BPCL network easily and conveniently. Furthermore, this project will allow the installation of a fast-charging grid. According to the company, this collaboration will boost its growth rate and position in the EV industry, giving them a stronger lead than their competitors.

This new turning point has been emphasized by Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy. It is expected that Ather will be able to leverage BPCL’s extensive network of fuel stations as a benefit of this partnership. As a result of this, the company will be able to offer fast charging around the country to its customers. As electric vehicle adoption grows, there will be an increasing demand for collaborations of this kind in the future. As a result, widespread access to the charging infrastructure will be made possible.

EV manufacturers enumerate a large number of reasons why they are not entering the EV charging industry themselves, as evidenced by a large list of EV manufacturers. In turn, this makes it harder for companies to compete. There is a rapid rise in the number of EVs being adopted. In addition to Ravneet’s point, he also mentioned that for these companies to stay competitive, they must take these significant steps to expand their services across the country. This will keep their customers close to them.

A response to this collaboration has been provided by BPCL’s Retail North Head Rajiv Dutta. As a consequence, they are steadily approaching their goal of converting 7000 outlets into energy stations shortly. Those initiatives are part of a larger effort to decarbonize the economy and to support and prioritize sustainability initiatives. He believes that by providing a charging infrastructure at retail outlets, early adopters of electric vehicles will gain confidence and convenience in their purchase decision.
