Range, battery, and powertrain characteristics of the Tata Punch electric vehicle.
Despite Tata’s announcement of the all-new act.ev architecture on which the Punch is based, there has been no mention of the Punch EV’s technical specifications. The Standard and Long Range variants will both come with 25 kWh and 35 kWh batteries, respectively, as we previously reported. As opposed to the former, the latter is equipped with an additional 7.2kW AC charger. Additionally, it is capable of supporting DC fast charging.
Based on the model and battery used, this modular platform is said to deliver a range of 300km to 600km. Therefore, it would seem reasonable for the Punch EV to have a range of 300 to 400 kilometers. Although we know that it is equipped with multi-mode brake regeneration, there are not yet any details regarding the power and torque figures.
The interior and features of the Tata Punch EV.
The interior of the Punch EV features a layered dashboard design that is highlighted by a new 10.25-inch multimedia system. In addition to the new instrument cluster, an illuminated two-spoke steering wheel has been borrowed from Tata’s larger SUVs. Those with lower trim levels, however, will be equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen and a digital cluster. Currently, only the long-range variants will feature the jeweled rotary drive selector.
Aside from the above-mentioned features, the top-spec Punch EV will also feature a 360-degree camera, leatherette seats, an electronic parking brake with automatic hold, connected car technology, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, cruise control, and the new Arcade. ev app suite. The vehicle is also equipped with a sunroof. It is noteworthy that some of these features have never been found on a vehicle of this size before. The vehicle is equipped with six airbags, ABS and ESC as standard, a blind-view monitor, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts, and an SOS signaling system.
There are a number of trim levels and variants available for the Tata Punch EV.
It is possible to select between five trims for the standard Punch EV, namely Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+, while the Long Range gets three trims, namely Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. It is also possible to choose from five dual-tone paint options with each variant.
Citroen’s eC3 is the target market for the Tata Punch EV. Prices are expected to range between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 13 lakh, ex-showroom, since it will be positioned between the Nexon EV MR and Tiago EV MR.
