BMW Eyes Long Wheelbase SUVs for India
Munich, Germany: German luxury carmaker BMW is considering introducing long-wheelbase (LWB) versions of its popular SUV models in the Indian market. The move comes on the heels of the successful launch of the long-wheelbase 3 Series, 5 Series, and 7 Series sedans, which have resonated well with Indian buyers prioritizing rear-seat comfort and luxury.
India’s growing appetite for SUVs, coupled with the success of LWB sedans, has prompted BMW to explore this segment. The brand currently offers LWB versions of its X1, X3, and X5 models in other markets, particularly China, where they have been well-received.
While there’s no official confirmation yet on which specific SUV models will be offered in the LWB configuration for India, the move is expected to further strengthen BMW’s position in the country’s luxury SUV segment. The additional legroom and enhanced comfort typically associated with LWB models are expected to appeal to Indian consumers.
With this potential expansion, BMW aims to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian luxury car buyers who seek a perfect blend of space, comfort, and driving dynamics.
