Bajaj Chetak Gets Affordable Entry-Level Variant Launch This Month

Bajaj Auto is gearing up to expand its electric two-wheeler portfolio with the launch of a more affordable entry-level variant of the Chetak electric scooter in June 2025. This strategic move aims to attract a broader segment of Indian consumers by making electric mobility more accessible and cost-effective.
The upcoming variant is expected to retain the retro-modern design and build quality that the Chetak brand is known for, while offering a trimmed-down feature set to lower the overall cost. Although exact specifications and pricing details are yet to be officially revealed, the new Chetak variant is likely to fall below the ₹1 lakh mark (ex-showroom), positioning it against mass-market EVs such as the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta S, and Ola S1 X.
This move comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is witnessing aggressive pricing strategies and product diversification, especially following the recent FAME-II subsidy revisions. By launching a budget-friendly variant, Bajaj is expected to cater to price-sensitive buyers in both urban and semi-urban areas.
The current Chetak range includes the Premium and Urbane variants, with prices starting around ₹1.15 lakh. The new variant will likely feature a smaller battery pack and fewer smart features while maintaining a respectable real-world range, ideal for daily commutes.
With this launch, Bajaj Auto reinforces its commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive electric mobility future in India. Full details regarding the scooter’s pricing, range, and availability are anticipated in the official launch announcement later this month.
