Ather Energy Rides High on Rizta Success with 1 Lakh Sales and 29% Revenue Growth in FY25
Bengaluru, June 2, 2025 — Ather Energy has marked a major milestone with its family-oriented electric scooter, the Rizta, crossing 1,00,000 unit sales within just 10 months of launch. First delivered in July 2024, the Rizta has rapidly become the company’s best-selling model, transforming Ather’s presence in India’s competitive premium EV market.
In FY2025, Ather recorded its highest-ever annual sales at 1,55,405 units, with the Rizta alone contributing a massive 58% of that figure. In April 2025, the scooter’s popularity soared further, accounting for 73% of monthly sales, far outpacing Ather’s other models including the 450X, 450S, and flagship 450 Apex.
From Southern Stronghold to National Footprint
Initially known for its strong southern India presence, Ather has seen significant market expansion across states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi, thanks largely to the Rizta’s family-first design and affordability. By Q4 FY25, Ather achieved a 15% share of India’s electric two-wheeler market, a major leap for the Bengaluru-based EV company.
Why Rizta Clicked with Indian Families
The Ather Rizta is tailored for family usage and offers several segment-leading features:
- Longest seat in the category for enhanced comfort
- 56 liters of onboard storage for practicality
- Range of up to 160 km on a single charge
- Smart safety features including Skid Control, Emergency Stop Signal, and AutoHold
- Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and ride stats through Ather’s smart dashboard
- Priced competitively between ₹1.05 lakh to ₹1.45 lakh (ex-showroom)
Financial Growth with Operational Efficiency
Driven by Rizta’s commercial success, Ather’s FY25 revenue grew by 29%, reaching ₹2,255 crore. Notably, the company also managed to reduce its net losses by 23%, thanks to improvements in operational efficiency and optimized supply chain management.
Ather CEO Tarun Mehta highlighted a notable shift in the company’s sales strategy. “For the first time, our family scooters are outselling performance models, marking a real shift in what Indian EV buyers are prioritizing—practicality, safety, and value,” he said.
What’s Next: Mass Market Ambitions on the EL Platform
Looking ahead to FY26, Ather is set to build on Rizta’s momentum with a new line-up of mass-market electric scooters based on its advanced EL platform. These upcoming models are expected to further lower entry barriers and strengthen Ather’s presence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Conclusion
With over 1 lakh Rizta scooters on the road, strong national demand, and rising financial health, Ather Energy is entering a new phase of sustainable, consumer-focused growth. As India’s EV market continues to evolve, the Rizta stands as a symbol of how innovative design, functionality, and value can converge to reshape mobility for the modern Indian family.
