Ather Energy Exploring Location To Set Up large Manufacturing Unit

Ather Energy, a two-wheeler manufacturer is in search of a location for starting its large manufacturing unit. It is planning to install around 6,500 charging stations with an investment of around Rs 130 crore in the next four years to develop electric vehicles (EV).




Ather Energy Exploring Location To Set Up Large Manufacturing Unit

The company is exploring the locations to find the perfect location from where the supply requirements can be met easily as it will also expand to the new cities in the coming years.

Ather Energy can produce around 30,000-35,000 units but it will not be sufficient as it had set its target higher in regard to sales. The company is also ready to set up a new facility which will have a larger scale if there is a need for an additional facility in the next couple of years.

Ather Energy, Chief Business Officer Says

Ravneet Phokela, chief business officer, Ather Energy said, “We are scouting for a location and we would like to be somewhere close to Bengaluru. Capacity would be around 5 lakh to 10 lakh units.”

Right now the company is not looking any funds but last year it had taken funds from Hero MotoCorp.

Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Delhi, And Mumbai Cities Are First In The List 

By the end of the year, it will cover in six cities, from Bengaluru to Chennai, Pune, Delhi, and Mumbai.




Company Signed MoU With Godrej Nature’s Basket

The company recently signed an MoU with Godrej Nature’s Basket for a pan-India association, that it will set up its charging points at various outlets of the grocery and fresh-food store. The one already installed is at Sadashivnagar outlet in Bengaluru.

Ather Energy- Electric Scooter, AtherGrid

Ather Energy has its electric scooter Ather 450 with its charging infrastructure AtherGrid, which is currently at 24 locations with 31 charging points operational in Bengaluru it is accessible at free of cost until September.

“We started sales last June and for almost five months, we had to face some supply chain challenges. Last month, the supplies started growing, and It is now scaling up. The scale-up was slow because of this. But if you look at on a run rate basis, in a 12 months period between June 2018 and June 2019, we will end the year in Bengaluru with 6,500-7000 units sales,” said Phokela.
