Ather Energy Crosses 400 Fast Charging Points in Maharashtra, Strengthening EV Ecosystem

24 July 2025, Maharashtra: Ather Energy, one of India’s pioneering electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 400 Ather Grid fast charging points in Maharashtra. With over 440 Ather Grid chargers spread across 35 cities, the company reinforces its commitment to eradicating range anxiety and facilitating seamless EV adoption throughout the state. Including LECCS-compatible chargers, the total number of fast charging points in Maharashtra has now exceeded 660, establishing one of the most robust public EV charging networks in the region.

This milestone comes as part of Ather’s larger mission to provide easy and reliable access to charging infrastructure. The Ather Grid chargers are strategically positioned not just within cities, but also along major highways and intercity routes including Mumbai-Pune, Pune-Satara, Satara-Kolhapur, Sangli-Kolhapur, and Pune-Panshet. These locations ensure that electric vehicle users can commute or travel long distances without worrying about charging availability.

In support of this growing infrastructure, Ather has established 64 Experience Centres and 42 Service Centres across 37 cities in Maharashtra, giving customers both access to new vehicles and comprehensive after-sales support. The fast-expanding Ather Grid is a cornerstone of this ecosystem and plays a pivotal role in encouraging new users to make the switch to electric mobility.

Ather has also developed and deployed the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS) — an interoperable fast-charging standard that is now being adopted by multiple EV manufacturers. In Maharashtra alone, 220 LECCS chargers have been installed. With the inclusion of LECCS-enabled chargers, electric two-wheeler users from other brands can also use the Ather Grid network, further broadening access and convenience. These chargers are also easily discoverable via Google Maps, enabling effortless navigation and planning for EV users.

Commenting on the achievement, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said:

“Maharashtra has been a strong market for us, and we’ve seen EV adoption here grow steadily over the years. As more people switch to electric, what really builds confidence is knowing that charging won’t be a challenge. However, for many potential buyers, charging continues to be one of the perceived barriers, and that’s something we’ve always worked towards solving. From the beginning, we’ve focused on building infrastructure that keeps pace with growing demand. Crossing 400 fast chargers in the state is a reflection of that effort. It’s about giving riders the assurance that they’ll always find a charger when they need one.”

To scale its infrastructure further, Ather has forged strategic partnerships with companies such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and EV Dock, enabling the deployment of chargers across retail, urban, and transit locations. These collaborations amplify Ather’s capacity to support a rising number of EV users in India.

Since launching India’s first two-wheeler fast charging network in 2018, Ather has been at the forefront of EV charging innovation. As of March 31, 2025, the company has installed 3,611 Fast and Neighbourhood chargers globally, with 3,578 located in India and the remaining in Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The Ather Grid fast chargers offer efficient performance, capable of adding 15 km of range in just 10 minutes, significantly reducing downtime for riders and making long-distance or daily commuting far more practical.
