Arunachal Pradesh Flags Off 10 EKA Electric Buses on World Environment Day, Boosting Green Mobility

In a significant step towards sustainable public transportation, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu flagged off 10 electric buses on World Environment Day. The 9-meter-long e-buses, supplied by EKA Mobility, will join the fleet of the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS).
This green initiative is part of a tender facilitated by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) under the Government of India’s broader mission to decarbonize public transport and promote cleaner mobility in remote and hilly regions.
Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer at EKA Mobility, expressed his enthusiasm, saying:
“We are honored to contribute to Arunachal Pradesh’s vision for a greener future. Our vehicles are proudly designed and manufactured in India, reflecting our commitment to sustainable indigenous innovation tailored for diverse Indian geographies.”
These electric buses are expected to significantly reduce the carbon footprint in the region while offering safe, efficient, and eco-friendly transportation for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
A Milestone for India’s E-Mobility Drive
This deployment marks an important milestone in the state’s and the country’s larger vision of sustainable development, particularly in ecologically sensitive zones. By adopting electric vehicles, Arunachal Pradesh is setting an example for other northeastern states to follow suit.
With such initiatives, India moves closer to its commitment under global climate agreements, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and paving the way for a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
