Ather Energy Launches BaaS and Budget Scooters to Accelerate EV Adoption
Ather Energy, a frontrunner in India’s premium electric two-wheeler space, has taken a bold leap toward mass-market EV adoption. The company has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, aiming to significantly reduce the upfront cost of electric scooters . This subscription-based battery ownership system will make Ather’s offerings more accessible to a wider customer base, especially price-sensitive buyers.
In addition to BaaS, Ather unveiled an all-new “EL” platform —its first dedicated platform for budget electric scooters . With this move, Ather is targeting the sub-₹1.2 lakh segment , directly challenging rivals like Ola Electric and TVS.
As part of its aggressive growth strategy, Ather also announced plans to double its retail footprint to 750+ stores across India. This expansion will strengthen its presence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, fueling demand and improving accessibility to its growing portfolio.
These strategic initiatives reflect Ather’s commitment to democratizing EV ownership while staying competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
