ChargeZone Launches ‘Shwa’ – Transforming EV Charging Stations into Open-Air Art Galleries for Climate Awareness

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, ChargeZone, India’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network, unveiled ‘Shwa’, a pioneering public art initiative that reimagines EV Supercharging stations as cultural and artistic landmarks. This groundbreaking project integrates large-scale murals into charging hubs, merging sustainability, community engagement, and creative expression to inspire collective climate action.
Murals that Speak to the Planet
The ‘Shwa’ project brings to life vivid and compelling murals designed by both established and emerging Indian artists. These artworks reflect diverse regional styles and environmental stories, rooted deeply in Indian culture, mythology, and the vision of a greener tomorrow. By transforming routine charging stops into open-air art galleries, ChargeZone aims to create meaningful experiences that go beyond technology and tap into human emotion and local heritage.
The first installations under ‘Shwa’ feature striking murals by renowned artist Rahul Kumawat, now showcased at ChargeZone’s Supercharging stations in Karjan, Gujarat and Suryapet, Telangana. These locations were carefully chosen for their high footfall and longer dwell times, giving visitors ample opportunity to engage with the artwork and reflect on its underlying environmental messages.
A Platform for Regional Voices and Environmental Hope
Each mural in the ‘Shwa’ project tells a unique story—not just about the environment, but also about the spirit of place. From traditional folk motifs to contemporary artistic narratives, the art pieces celebrate India’s regional aesthetics and offer messages of hope, renewal, and ecological responsibility. The initiative also acts as a platform for local artists to reach broader audiences, fostering a deeper connection between communities and sustainability goals.
Art + Action = Impact
By embedding art into the EV ecosystem, ChargeZone’s ‘Shwa’ initiative marks a significant shift in how public infrastructure can be designed—not just for functionality, but also as a tool for education, cultural storytelling, and environmental awareness.
As India accelerates its EV adoption and environmental commitments, initiatives like ‘Shwa’ remind us that sustainability is not just about innovation—it’s also about imagination, identity, and inspiration.
