For a standard price of Rs. 1.15 lakhs (ex-showroom), Bajaj has launched a new electric scooter called the Urbane, and for a Tecpac price of Rs. 1.21 lakhs, you will be able to unlock additional features and enjoy a higher level of performance.

As compared to the Chetak Premium, this urbane model has several improvements as well as several steps backward.

As we all know, the Bajaj Chetak was a legendary scooter in the olden days, but after some years it was discontinued from the automotive market. However, after many years, the company began producing electric scooters once more.

As for the range question, Bajaj has stated that urbane has a slightly longer range (113km) than Chetak (108km), and the urbane range is an IDC Certified range, while the current Chetak Premium claims 108km of real-world range (its IDC rating is 126km). As a result, urbane will have a slightly shorter range in a real-world scenario. Regarding the battery capacity of the urbane, it is the same as the current model (2.9kWh).

Regarding the LCD, urbane utilizes the same LCD as the premium variant. The standard form of the Urbane offers a top speed of 63 mph and only offers one mode of operation, the riding mode. With the installation of the Tecpac, you will receive a top speed of 73 mph and a sport mode.

However, in some areas, the chetak urbane is experiencing lags compared to the chetak premium. Despite the decrease in the charging rate for the standard charger from 800W to 650W, the charging time has also increased from 3 hours 50 minutes to 4 hours 50 minutes. The Urbane variant is the only one that comes with drum breaks at both ends.

I hope that Bajaj will soon update the premium to include it, as there are some areas in urbane that are currently lacking. Please stay tuned for more information.
