A festive offer on XC40, and a price hike on C40 Recharge

VOLVO C40 RECHARGE

One hundred C40 Recharges were booked within one month of its debut, the Swedish luxury carmaker reported.

A price increase has been announced by Volvo Car India for its second fully electric car, the C40 Recharge. The vehicle was originally launched at an introductory price of Rs 61.25 lakh but is now available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 62.95 lakh.

A remarkable number of reservations were made for the C40 Recharge within one month of its debut, according to the Swedish luxury automobile manufacturer. The company has recently introduced its first ground-up electric vehicle (EV) in India, the C40 Recharge, which was launched in September.

The XC40 is to be offered exclusively in its all-electric version following the enthusiastic response to Volvo’s electric cars in India. In addition, Volvo has announced a special “Festive Delight Offer” for purchasers of the XC40 Recharge. The company stated that this offer is valid for a limited time and while supplies last.

To reach 35 percent of EV sales next year, Volvo plans to launch the C40 Recharge. In the first half of 2023, XC40 Recharge generated 25 percent of the company’s sales.

Featuring a sloping roofline and a two-part spoiler, the C40 Recharge is designed in the style of a coupe. A Pixel LED headlight and split LED taillight are included. Interior features include a 9.0-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wood inlays on the dashboard, as seen in the XC40 Recharge. Additionally, the C40 Recharge comes with an onboard e-SIM and Android-based infotainment.

Compared to the XC40 Recharge, the C40 Recharge has a smaller boot with 413 liters as opposed to 452 liters. There is no change to the trunk space, which remains 31 liters. As part of Volvo’s commitment to reduce animal cruelty and carbon emissions, the C40 Recharge has a leather-free interior.

A similar platform and powertrain are shared by the C40 Recharge and the XC40 Recharge. With dual motors on each axle and a 78kWh battery pack, it uses the Compact Modular Architecture platform. According to WLTP, the C40 Recharge has a range of 530km, or 683km according to ICAT.

Powered by two electric motors, the C40 Recharge produces 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque. C40 Recharge should be capable of accelerating from 0-100kph in 4.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than XC40 Recharge. In just 27 minutes, the C40 Recharge can be charged from 0 to 100 percent with a 150kW DC charger.

XC40 and C40 Recharge are available only online through Volvo Car India. Volvo Car India’s website allows customers to place orders online with a refundable deposit of Rs 100,000.

Additionally, C40 Recharge customers will be able to take part in the exclusive Tre Kronor Experience program, which was previously available only to XC40 Recharge customers. A host of unique luxury experiences will be offered at Tre-Kronor, which denotes Swedish luxury’s three crowns.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 will compete against Volvo’s new C40 Recharge. The segment also includes ICE SUVs such as the Audi Q3 Sportback and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, although there are no electric coupe SUVs at this price point.
