In India, BMW launched the iX1 luxury electric SUV

440 km lithium-ion battery is covered by a 1.6 lakh km battery warranty


BMW has just launched the iX1 luxury electric SUV in India. Priced at Rs 66,90,000, the BMW iX1 is available in non-metallic paint colors Alpine White and metallic paint colors Space Silver, Black Sapphire, and Storm Bay. The choice of toppings includes Veganza Perforated Mocha and Veganza Perforated Oyster.

The BMW iX1 comes with a standard two-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty. Repair Inclusive can extend the warranty benefit from the third year of operation to a maximum of 5 years without any mileage limit. The battery is warranted for 8 years or up to 160,000 km.

The BMW iX1 is equipped with a lithium-ion battery integrated into the vehicle’s floor. The 66.4 kWh battery pack, which has a power consumption of 18.1 to 16.8 kWh/100 km, claims to provide a range of 417 to 440 km (WLTP). According to BMW, the car can be charged from 10 to 90 percent in just 29 minutes with a 130 kW DC charger, while with an 11 kW AC charger, it can be fully charged in 6.3 hours.

The BMW iX1 comes with a free BMW Wallbox charger included with installation allowing safe and convenient charging of up to 11 kW. According to BMW, it has one of the best charging networks in the luxury segment, with fast chargers across the BMW dealer network across 35 cities in India.

The iX1 is equipped with fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which features an integrated drive unit within a single housing. It has an electric motor on both the front and rear axles, a single-speed transmission, and power electronics. BMW claims that the iX1 can go from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 180 km/hr. It produces an output of 313 horsepower and a maximum torque of 494 Nm.

According to a press release from BMW, the iX1 features an intelligent all-wheel-drive system that constantly monitors the driving situation and responds quickly. Additionally, the EV comes equipped with electronically controlled ‘Automatic Differential Brakes/Locks’ (ADB-X), extended ‘Dynamic Traction Control’ (DTC), Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control.

BMW has introduced the iX1, a car that boasts BMW ConnectedDrive technology, transforming it into a digitally interconnected device. This technology includes BMW ID, My BMW App, Digital Key Plus, Intelligent Emergency Call, Real-time Traffic Information, and Remote Services.

 

 

In terms of design, the iX1 features adaptive LED headlights that extend to the sides, giving it a dynamic look. The side sketch is also dynamic, with well-sculpted surfaces creating an expressive interplay of light and shadow. The long, stretched roofline flows into a spoiler that extends to the rear, while square wheel arch contours, flat roof rails, and 18-inch M light alloy wheels enhance the overall appearance. At the rear, sculptural surfaces and horizontal lines give off a powerful and solid vibe, with a narrow rear window, a large surface diffuser, and L-shaped LED lights.

This car’s interior is both luxurious and eye-catching. The BMW Curved Display is seamlessly integrated into the cockpit, with clear and modern graphics that create an immersive visual experience for the driver. The dashboard is clean and structured, with ‘Aluminium Mesh-effect’ trim that blends beautifully with the Luxury Instrument Panel and M Anthracite headliner. The M Sport leather steering wheel adds a sporty touch to the design. Decorative strips, including ambient lighting and pearl chrome touches on door handles, enhance the premium feel. The armrest with storage appears to be floating and integrates with the control cluster. According to BMW’s release, the Harman Kardon HiFi Surround Sound system with 12 loudspeakers offers magnificent sound quality, even at low volumes.

The iX1 by BMW offers exceptional comfort with Active Seats for both the driver and front passenger, which is unmatched in its segment. These seats include lumbar support and multiple massage programs with adjustable intensities and speeds, making long drives less stressful. The car also has Ambient Lighting with six dimmable designs to fit the mood, and Automatic 2-zone A/C to maintain an ideal temperature. For more space, the car has a large glass sunroof and a 490-liter luggage compartment that can expand to 1,495 liters. Convenience features include Comfort Access and contactless operation of the boot lid, making it easier to load and unload the car.

The interior of the iX1 features a BMW Curved Display, boasting a 10.25-inch digital information display located behind the steering wheel, as well as a 10.7-inch Control Display. The latest BMW iDrive, with Operating System 8.5, provides various options for interacting with the car. Occupants can easily operate various car functions by communicating with their BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Wireless smartphone integration allows access to various functions and apps. The car’s software is regularly updated remotely to ensure it remains up to date. The center console includes a vertical smartphone holder that provides inductive wireless charging and an NFC interface. Additionally, updated navigation is now available, along with real-time traffic information.

 

 

The My BMW app works remotely to always monitor the current status of the vehicle. The BMW Digital Key Plus with Comfort Access sets a new standard in convenience by turning smartphones and smartwatches into car keys, in addition to the provided NFC tag. It allows customers to automatically open, close, and start the vehicle. An elegant welcoming scene begins with coordinated lighting effects including a glowing carpet. Customers can share digital keys with up to 5 users. To assist the driver, it has an active park distance control system with sensors at the front and rear, a reversing camera, a parking assist, a reverse assistant, and an attentive assistant. Reverse assist remembers the last 50 meters traveled and automatically reverses the car along the same route. Attention Assistant monitors potential hazards and helps the driver react promptly.

BMW safety technologies include a comprehensive driver assistance system with lane departure warning, cruise control with braking function, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian protection. Other standard safety features include six airbags, “ABS” and an anti-lock braking system. With Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Side Impact Protection side bolsters, Electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash protection sensor, tubeless tires with a tire pressure indicator, ISOFIX Child Seat, integrated tire repair kit and pedestrian sound protection.

BMW Efficiency Dynamics includes features such as Auto Start/Stop, ECO PRO Mode, Brake Energy Regeneration, Electronic Power Steering, Driving Experience Control Switch, and My Mode in Cruise Control.
