An electric version of the Honda Motocompacto: A tribute to the Motocompo from the early 1980s
It was recently announced by Honda that the Motocompacto is an electric scooter that pays homage to the Motocompo, a scooter that made its debut in the early 1980s. Featuring an emissions-free operation and an impressive range of up to 19 kilometers on a single charge, this car is ideal for short trips around the city since it operates emissions-free. Additionally, it has a foldable design and looks like a fun-riding solution for those who commute around the city in a hurry.
Despite its compact size, the Motocompacto does not compromise on style. It maintains a classic aesthetic with an all-white body that exudes timeless charm. Behind this innovative scooter are Honda engineers from Ohio and California who incorporated 32 patents into its design. The special feature of the Motocompacto lies in the fact that it is converted into a compact, lightweight, and stackable carrying case. This feature makes it easier to transport in a vehicle, on public transport or to store in tight spaces.
Honda’s Motocompacto electric vehicle is equipped with a direct-drive permanent magnet motor, with a maximum capacity of 490 W, a torque of 16 Nm, uses a front-wheel drive system, and can reach a maximum speed of 24 km/h. The scooter is powered by a 6.8 Ah battery, which can be fully charged in 3.5 hours using a standard 110-volt outlet. With this energy, it can travel up to 19 km on a single charge.
The wheelbase of this vehicle is 742 mm, which is both a measure of its size and capacity. It has a length of 968 mm when folded and 742 mm when it is ready to ride. This product has a measured height of 889 mm when it is ready for use and a compact height of 536 mm when it is folded. Additionally, the width of the bag can be adjusted from 437 mm when unfolded to 100 mm when folded. To provide a comfortable riding position for the user, the saddle height has been set at 622.3mm. Due to its lightweight design, the Motocompacto weighs only 18 kilograms.
