India’s electric scooter sector welcomes a highly anticipated new member

India has launched the River Indie electric scooter for 1.25 lakh.

Bangalore-based startup River Electric has officially launched the highly anticipated River Indie electric scooter. The Lifestyle Electric Scooter offers a lot of interesting features at a price starting at Rs 1.25 lakh. One thing’s for sure, the e-scooter space is getting weirder, and Indie’s design ensures that.

Here we detail what to expect from this new electric scooter. It offers the familiar performance and features we’ve seen before but otherwise tries to show how it’s possible.

River was created by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, two geniuses who are passionate about making mobility accessible to the masses, creating a groundbreaking product sure to make waves in the industry. The duo brings extensive experience from international ventures and brings a unique blend of creativity, innovation, and expertise to their work. With the support of big names such as Maniv Mobility, Trucks, Toyota Ventures, and Lowercarbon Capital, River Electric is on the road to success. The company has a 120-square-foot R&D facility with an annual capacity of 100,000 units.

Let’s take a look at the features of River Indie:

The River Indie is available in three colors: Blue, Yellow, and Red, and the River Indie is equipped with 14-inch wheels typically found on larger maxi scooters like the Yamaha Aerox. This means you can ride rough roads effortlessly without sacrificing maneuverability. A built-in crash bar provides additional protection, while fully digital instrumentation in the form of a color LCD screen keeps you up to date with all your key metrics.

But what sets the River Indie apart is its storage capacity. With a 43-liter trunk under the seats and a 12-liter glove box in the front, there’s plenty of room for your belongings. And if that’s not enough, you can add 40 liters of storage space by adding a case. There is a rackmount option as well as a box option. There is also an optional top case with a capacity of 25 liters for even more storage space. Whether you’re commuting or running errands around town, the River Indie has you covered. The River Indie is equipped with an extendable footrest that folds out from the side of the baseplate. This unique feature adds convenience and flexibility whether you’re cruising around town or navigating winding roads.

And when it comes to performance the mid-engine engine produces 6.7 kW of peak power, which is sent to the rear wheels via belt drive. With a top speed of 90 km/h, River Indie has no problem on the open road. It also has a real range of 150km and a real range of 120km thanks to the 4kWh fixed battery. It can be charged to 100% in 5 hours. This means you can spend less time worrying about charging and more time enjoying your ride.

As mentioned at the beginning, the new electric scooter is priced at Rs 1.25 lakh (former showroom, Bangalore). And this introductory price is gaining traction among EV enthusiasts and budget-conscious consumers. However, this limited-time offer won’t last forever, so don’t wait too long to purchase. The company announced that pre-orders have opened and deliveries will begin in August 2023.

The enthusiastic co-founder released an official statement before the launch, explaining: “We reimagine the way people drive and transport the world on two wheels. We can’t wait to announce what we’ve built with River.”
