Sales of electric two-wheelers in India are booming, setting new records every month. In January 2023, the number of electric motorcycles sold will exceed 60,000 units.
2022 was a breakthrough year for electric vehicles (EVs) in India. More than 10 lakhs of EVs have been sold in the country, of which 6 lakhs are electric two-wheelers. Ola Electric has achieved excellent results by taking the number one spot on the sales list in January 2023. The company has sold 18,212 of its popular S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, solidifying its position as the top player in the industry.
This impressive achievement is made even more remarkable by the fact that Ola Electric has sold over 16,000 of its e-scooters in its fourth straight month. The company has set a new benchmark and is the first in the industry to achieve this level of sales performance.
TVS saw an increase in sales of electric two-wheelers, and in January 2023 he hit a record monthly sale of 10,378 units. This impressive performance has earned the company the number two spot in retail sales rankings.
The new iQube and iQube S are in demand. TVS recently unveiled its flagship electric scooter iQube ST at Auto Expo 2023. The company has received positive feedback about this new addition to its product range and plans to start shipping it later this year.
Another fast-growing company selling electric two-wheelers is Ather Energy. Ather said in January he shipped 9,110 of his 450X electric scooters and on the sales list he ranked third. Ather recently launched its 100,000th electric scooter at its manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
Bajaj Auto, which makes only the Bajaj Chetak, sold 2,606 units in January. Very low compared to others, according to their experience in this field. And they strive to make their products affordable to meet the needs of their customers. Bajaj plans to separate its electrical department and head to Target.
Hero Electric, Okinawa, and Ampere EV sales fell in January. The two companies sold 6,392, 4,404, and 4,366 of their electric motorcycles respectively.
Hero MotoCorp has also started supplying its Vida electric scooters in Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Delhi. Hero has delivered 157 of its Vida V1 electric scooters to these three cities.
