Tata Engine records 18% growth in January 2023: Nexon, Punch forward
Tata Motors today announced that in January 2023 it sold 47,987 domestic passenger cars. The company sold 40,777 units in the same month last year, an 18% year-on-year increase. MoM’s sales increased 19.84% from the 40,043 units sold last month.
The company recorded EV sales of 4,133 units in January 2023, and year-on-year recorded positive sales growth of 39%. The company sold 2,3982 electric vehicles in January 2022. The company also reported strong growth in its international (IB) business in January 2023, with year-on-year growth of 83% compared to January 2022.
Tata Motors today increased the price of its ICE portfolio of passenger cars. The company said the price increase was due to higher costs due to regulatory changes and higher overall input costs.
The company said the weighted average increase would be 1.2 depending on the variant and model. Price increases affect Tata Tiago, Punch, Tigor, Altroz, Nexon, Harrier, and Tata Safari. Maruti Suzuki recently increased the prices of its vehicles by approximately 1.1% across all models. More automakers are expected to raise prices in the near future.
Tata Motors will soon launch CNG versions of the Punch and Altroz. The company unveiled these two cars at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023.
Speaking of engines, the Punch and Alto’s CNG are powered by the same 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder NA petrol engine that puts out 86 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. However, in CNG mode, power and torque drop to 72 hp and 95 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, and Tata may offer a CNG-equipped AMT transmission.
