Lith Pwr becomes the first company in India to run its own electric 3-wheelers fleet powered by Honda Battery as a service (BaaS)
Thane-based Lith Pwr Mobility Pvt Ltd. has partnered with Tork Motors Pvt Ltd., and Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt Ltd., a subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, Japan, for 3-wheelers EV operations in India. Tork has developed a technology for efficient and robust integration for battery swapping services that enable optimal use of batteries to churn out maximum mileage and provide safety and longevity.
Under this partnership, electric 3-wheelers will be powered by Tork Motors’ powertrain & Honda will provide the Battery as a Service (BaaS) swapping solution. Commercial operations for BaaS have commenced and the first stint in Bengaluru already hosts multiple swapping stations to smoothen its operations. Lith Pwr Mobility has successfully executed its pilot project in Thane, Maharashtra in 2021.
On this occasion, Manish Agarwal, Founder of Lith Pwr said, “With the support of our associate partners who have vast expertise & experience in electric automotive, we are contributing to the nation building. At the same time, the three-wheeler (auto-rickshaw) industry is considered a major source of pollution in last mile connectivity services. Our mission is to provide eco-friendly rides for daily commutes in metro cities with zero downtime on a swappable battery pack.”
Tork Motors has also been working with electric 3-wheeler OEMs since 2017 and is already manufacturing and supplying powertrains to multiple companies. Tork Motor’s Powertrain has an Axial flux motor supported by the CAN Bus-based controller to give out maximum power which enables an overall efficiency of 94%. It also comes with a 2-speed gearbox that offers optimum output.
The broader objective behind this project is to enhance the availability of green mobility in the country along with creating a pollution-free and peaceful environment by cutting down on the noise aspect completely.
This partnership comes at the onsite of the policies being drafted by NITI Aayog to promote battery swapping in India. It will act as a boon for the industry and enable Tork & Honda to jointly provide the most advanced technology and highest efficiency for the Electric 3-wheeler segment.
