Escorts to launch electric tractors in India 

Escorts Limited an Indian multinational conglomerate and automotive engineering company that runs agri-machinery, construction machinery, material handling, and railway equipment sectors has received a certification from the Central Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute, Budni for its electric tractor. It will commercially launch its electric scooters in India. 

The electric tractor named as “Escorts Limited, Farmtrac (26E) Agriculture Tractor manufactured by Escorts Limited” that it will follow the provision of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989.

The company had unveiled its electric tractor in 2017 and in a statement that “We had showcased futuristic and eco-friendly electric tractor concept invariants of mechanical and hydrostatic power transmission platform for sustainable and green agriculture.”

The company has exported these tractors in 2019 and with the help of this certification, it will also launch the electric tractors in the domestic market too.

Escorts Ltd is the only company that has received the CMVR certificate in India for electric tractors. It comes under the 21-30 HP segment and is designed and developed by the in-house R&D of Escorts.

In our last article about an electric tractor, we have shared about the Sonalika tractor that has launched recently. It is the first electric tractor launched by the company and they named it as ‘Sonalika Tiger Electric.’

It is a powerful electric tractor with an 11 kW induction motor. This tractor can run continuously run for 8 hours with 210 trolley load. It is equipped with a 25.5 kW lithium-ion battery and is powered with an 11 kW induction motor. It provides a top speed of 24.93 kmph, as it is a low-speed vehicle it doesn’t require any license or registrations. The price of this electric tractor is 5.99 lakh (Ex-showroom) rupees and it is available for pre-booking.
