APSRTC electric buses to ply on Tirumala hills & Govt allows E2W to run as taxis

Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation will soon introduce electric buses to transport visiting pilgrims to Tirumala Hills where the famous temple of Lord Venkateswara is located, from Tirupati.

It aims to maintain the hilly areas to be from pollution, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) that manages the hill decided to introduce electric buses in the place of those operated by diesel, TTD Board Chairman YV Subba Reddy told.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also reacted positively to the request made by TTD said, Reddy.

Govt allows electric two-wheelers to run as taxis 

The Ministry of Roadways and Transport is taking a few initiatives to reduce air pollution by vehicular. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari announced that the government will now be permitting two-wheeler powered by electricity or biofuels can be operated as taxis by installing electronic meters.

The Minister focuses on the needs of such services in smaller cities that will help individuals to travel in and around.

The Union Minister recently addressing a virtual “Electric Mobility Conference 2020, The Spark Revolution in India” by industry body Ficci asked automobile manufacturers to reduce cost and forego profit initially to capture market and fuel growth. India has full of potential to emerge as a global hub for electric vehicles by 2025.

The Road Transport Minister said that once the market is picking up they will not look back, there is no chance to stop. He promised the manufacturers to support the initiative of cutting down the import costs of crude oils and reducing pollution levels in the country.
