Iconic Vespa 98 electric scooter reimagined

The Piaggio Vespa has become more of an icon since decades and it is available in a range of powertrain choices which also includes electric. The South India based design firm, the Mightseed Designs has shared some interesting twist to the original Vespa 98.

It is an all-electric, ultra-modern approach which has the Vespa DNA. Its single-seat layout, prominent haunches and there are no sharp cuts in the scooter. It has a straight-rod handlebar, incorporates a space instrument console, a pair of LED DRLS. There are no mirrors on the handlebar but has a lidar display which helps to indicate the oncoming traffic.

It has a headlamp and a tail lamp and the company states that he Vespa 48 concept’s hub-mounted motor is connected to a 30Ah lithium-ion. It has a huge boot space and it is said to be the best choice for a perfect scooter for a single person’s holiday trip.

Piaggio has unveiled its Vespa Elettrica electric scooter at the Auto Expo 2020. The Vespa Elettrica has been in production in Europe for now but for India, the company is going to develop a new electric scooter which is specially made for the Indian market said the Piaggio India CEO and Managing Director Diego Graffi.

The company also wants to explore various types of electric vehicles space. “With the growing changes in the electric two-wheeler ecosystem, Piaggio India is in the process of introducing innovative electric mobility solutions in India keeping the local consumer in mind. We are exploring multiple platforms for designing electric mobility solutions for India,” said Graffi.
