Bel Power Solutions announced DC-AC Inverter for Electric Vehicles
Bel Power Solutions, a Bel group company and a premier global manufacturer of power management devices, announced a new DC-AC inverter on Wednesday, which offers a high efficiency solution for powering accessories of commercial electric and hybrid vehicles.
The inverter converts a high-voltage DC power source into split-phase AC power at 120/240 volts to power auxiliary equipment such as air conditioning etc. It offers a typical efficiency up to 93%. This 6kW inverter can be kept in parallel with a single-phase configuration to deliver a maximum power output of 36 kW. Developers can also combine three units and can create a three-phase system.
It is enclosed in a sealed aluminum enclosure and it can be mounted on a vehicle chassis. The invertor uses liquid cooling which enables it to operate at -40⁰ to 85⁰ C ambient temperature, at full load with no power loss.
The inverter accepts input voltages ranging from 400 to 850 VDC, which is ideal for a direct connection to a high voltage DC drive or battery bus. Full galvanic separation between the input and output enhances safety and reliability.
The inverter can be controlled by using the industry-standard CAN bus, which is widely used in automotive applications. It aslo offers a vibration immunity and some other comprehensive set of protections such as overtemperature, output over-voltage and over-current conditions. An optional mating connector kit includes a three-meter high-voltage cable. This powerful new inverter will be available at competitive price.
