The port city will get its first public electric charging station soon. The installation of 15 charging stations will be done by the public sector oil companies and they will be also responsible to run it.
First 3 charging stations will be located in Kochi
The citing industry sources said that the first 3 charging stations will be located in Kochi region.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Installs 14 charging stations
out of 15 electric charging stations, 14 will be installed by the Bharat Petroleum Corporation since it is also the part of the plan.
14 charging stations near Edappally, InfoPark & Kerala High court
The 14 charging stations will be at petroleum outlets near Edappally, InfoPark, and the Kerala High court.
Indian Oil Corporation
Indian Oil Corporation will also get the charging facility near Edappally.
Electric charging stations Installations
The State is also planning to install charging stations at Panancheri, Kolaazhi, Chalakudy, Kombidi, Chevoor, Kodungalloor, Thriprayar, Choondal, and Vaniyampara in the Thrissur district once it launches the charging stations at Kochi.
Charging stations also have battery swapping
These charging stations will be used for both directly charging of batteries in vehicles and also battery swapping.
Charging stations installation at a maximum of 6 meters
The charging stations will be installed at a maximum of 6 meters from the fuel vending machines. The facilities have separate power supply line for operation and the units also have an option to lock in case if any accidental disconnection during charging.
