Within two years, TVS and Zomato will deploy 10k electric scooters

TVS Motor Company announced Wednesday that it has partnered with online grocery delivery platform Zomato to introduce 10,000 electric scooters into its fleet of delivery vehicles over two years.

In a regulatory filing, TVS Motor Company said the partnership is consistent with the company’s commitment to green and sustainable mobility solutions. It will further strengthen the company’s electrification efforts in various mobility segments.

According to Zomato, the company’s efforts to enable EV introduction by its last-mile delivery partners aligns with its plans to enable EV adoption by its staff.

“This strategic partnership marks another milestone in TVS Motor’s commitment to providing supply partners with smart and reliable EV products and services at the lowest total cost of ownership,” he added. As part of the partnership, TVS Motor said it would “introduce more than 10,000 TVS electric scooters in two years.”

The company added that it will also ensure that its Zomato-integrated delivery partners will have access to charging stations around their company and receive smooth digital integration to facilitate deliveries.

Zomato’s chief operating officer, Rinshul Chandra, said Zomato aims to have 100 percent electric vehicles by 2030. He added, “We will be the first grocery order and delivery company to participate in The Climate Group’s EV100 campaign platform.”

The company works with more than 50 companies in the EV ecosystem. It intends to attract more than 100,000 EV-based supply partners to its platform within two years, he added.

TVS Motor’s global reputation as one of the foremost manufacturers of sustainable mobility will further motivate our efforts, according to Chandra. As part of the association, 50 TVS iQube electric scooters were delivered to Zomato’s in-vehicle delivery partners at the Hyderabad event through fleet operators Chartered Bikes Pvt Ltd x BLive, TVS Motor Co.

The company, which entered the electric mobility field in 2020, announced selling more than 100,000 electric vehicles.
